 Non Liturgical Ministries

As members of Christ's Church, we are called to serve His people. Not only are we asked to serve those within our own parish of St. James, but we are also asked to reach out to those in our community. We can imitate the example of Jesus serving others by participating in one of the other ministries.

Bereavement Support Group - Creates within St. James Church a support program for those who are experiencing grief and sorrow with an atmosphere of healing. To provide companioning for those who experience loss in their lives. To be able to express their feeling and feel validated. To ensure no one need walk alone. The Bereavement Support Group meets the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Room 105.

Elizabeth Ministries - This is an outreach to women in special times of motherhood. It is based on Jesus' vision of the goodness, beauty and truth of human life. The purpose of this ministry is to affirm, support, encourage, and assist women in response to their needs during childbearing years.

Parish Health Ministry - The Parish Health Ministry offers health and education awareness. Services include monthly blood pressure screening, CPR training, blood drive, speakers on health topics, information on the bulletin board and a resource for health needs which also involves other Church ministries. The blood pressure screenings are held the second full weekend every month. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady's Center. All parishioners are welcome to attend!

Social Justice Network - The Network acts as a facilitator to the St. James Community in carrying out the social justice mission of the Church. We serve God by helping those in need and by working for peace and justice within our parish community and beyond its boundaries - the hungry, the homeless, the sick, the lonely, the elderly, the right to life, and human rights organizations. The Network meets the third Sunday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in Our Lady's Center.

Youth Ministry - The ministry is for high school students 9th - 12th grades. The group gathers together on Sundays throughout the year from 4-6 p.m. in Room 105. Involvement with the Liturgy, service projects, fund-raisers, retreats, and social functions are a few of the organized activities that we are involved with throughout the year. The weekly bulletin posts upcoming events and information. Youth are welcome to join us anytime throughout the year! Bring a friend! Volunteers are also welcome to get involved! Come out and join us and build your relationship with God!

Welcoming Committee - Contacts new parishioners, welcoming them to the parish and offering assistance and information about the parish.
