What is the Social Justice Network?
The Social Justice network is a group of volunteers who serve God by providing opportunities for the parishioners of St. James to help those in need in our community and beyond. We work on behalf of the hungry, the homeless, the sick, the lonely, the elderly, those with disabilities, the unborn, and anyone else in need of a helping hand.
We feed those in need... we support St. Mary's Meals, Lititz families in need, Catholic Worker House, Lititz-Warwick Community Chest, Water Street Mission, Outreach to Dominica, Habitat for Humanity, LOVE Inc..
We provide for those in need.... food drives, clothing drives, personal care items, monetary support.
We advocate for those in need... we offer support for the unborn and for the rights of all human beings.
Where there is a need, we strive to find a way to fill it.
We would also like to start a conversation within our parish community about how we can work to eradicate the sin of racism. These conversations may be difficult, but Jesus didn’t avoid difficult conversations. He often confronted tough topics without regard for the discomfort He might create for His disciples. This is a conversation we must begin in earnest because He has commanded us to love one another as He loves us (John 13:34-35).
The Social Justice Network needs feedback on how to best serve our parish community as we begin this conversation. We ask that you complete the survey by click on the link on the left.
The St. James Social Justice Network is currently meeting on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 pm online. Please contact Jeannette List at .blist@@dejazzd.com for a link to the meeting.
